ASHTANGA YOGA IN FRANKFURT

IN TRADITIONAL MYSORE STYLE

WELCOME TO AYRF

We have been teaching Ashtanga Yoga in Frankfurt in the traditional Mysore style since 2005 in our beautiful yoga studio in Nordend/Ostend.

The focus is on individuality – because each path is different. In order to do justice to this, we accompany you individually and adapted to your possibilities.

First go inside, then outside.

In addition to the physical aspect, we give a deeper insight into the other 8 paths of Patanjali: Yama, Niyama, Asana, Pranayama, Pratyahara, Dharana, Dhyana and Samadhi.

In addition, the focus is on a physically healthy practice that can accompany you throughout your life (and of course it can also be fun!). At AYRF, we value the process (you go through) without losing sight of the goal.

AṢṬĀṄGA MYSORE STYLE

In the traditional Mysore style, a teacher supports practitioners in finding their own spirited and vital practice (self-practice) or in deepening their existing practice individually. In addition, the practitioners receive assistance adapted to them and are corrected in the execution of the postures (asanas). Due to the individual instruction, a Mysore class is basically like a private yoga session. At the same time, you benefit from the motivating and inspiring energy of all practitioners in the room.

IT ALL STARTS WITH PRACTICE

In the beginning, the asana practice is usually experienced as physically demanding. However, the practice in the Aṣṭāṅga Mysore style is always adapted to the respective possibilities of the practitioners. The practitioners are thus challenged, but not overwhelmed. The aim is to find a unique balance between rest and challenge, between breath and movement, and between attention and introspection.

FOCUS ON INDIVIDUALITY

In addition to the focus on tradition and dedication , we at AYRF understand the Mysore style primarily as an individualized practice. In order to prepare for certain asanas or to respond to physio-psychological conditions, we break away from the traditional sequence if necessary. Then we use, for example, variations in the sequence or execution of the exercises, which are guaranteed to be able to be performed by everyone. The goal is a traditional, but an individually adapted practice.

IMPORTANCE OF THE TEACHER-STUDENT RELATIONSHIP

Ashtangis who already have a permanent teacher and, for example, are only visiting (drop-ins), practice their usual practice at AYRF. Out of respect for the teacher-student relationship, I do not make any changes to their practice. I always discuss exceptions with the student if I consider it absolutely necessary, e.g. for health reasons.

PRINCIPLE OF SOLIDARITY

Money should not stand in the way of regular participation in our courses. This also applies to the workshops we offer – we will find the right contribution for everyone.
