Was wir in den Kursen praktizieren, ist nur ein Teil von dem, was Ashtanga Yoga ausmacht. Deswegen unterrichte ich regelmäßig einen Basic-stuff-Workshop. Darin geht es zum einen um die Herkunft, die Bedeutung sowie die praktischen Werkzeuge für die Vertiefung Eurer Praxis (Pranayama, Tristana, Vinyasa, etc.), andere wissenswerte Basics und meine persönliche Sichtweise des Ashtanga Yoga Systems: ein grundlegendes Verständnis rund um Ashtanga Yoga.

Die Teilnahmevoraussetzung ist lediglich eine bestehende, gefestigte und selbständige Ashtanga Yoga Mysore-Praxis von mindestens der Fundamentals.

Geld sollte einer regelmäßigen Teilnahme an Yoga Kursen bzw. an meinen Workshops nicht im Wege stehen. Aus diesem Grund gibt es bei ASHTANGA YOGA RAUM FRANKFURT seit jeher das Solidar-Prinzip.

Pranayama and Kriya

Imagine how great it would be to have a switch that, when operated, would enable you to consciously choose between your right and left brain hemispheres, intuitive and analytical intelligence, sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems, fight/flight reflex and rest/relaxation, and between the male and female, solar and lunar, aspects of your psyche.

How great it would be if, when required, you could switch from being compassionate to doggedly determined. Or from charged with energy to completely relaxed within a few minutes. Or from extrovert (physically present, expressive and outgoing) to introvert (reflective and absorbing) within a short time. This switch does in fact exist and it is not at all hidden. It is the prominently protruding olfactory orifice right in the middle of your face: your nose.

Pranayama includes some of the most neglected but yet most powerful methods of yoga. Pranayama is the vital link that connects asana to meditation without which the combined benefit of both cannot be harvested. Learn how to use pranayama to harmonize the doshas (humors of the body) and thus attain a state of health and balance as well as how to still the mind, enabling spiritual insight.

The kriyas are predominantly methods of purification of the body. They support the work of postures and are especially important for people who live in large cities. They aid in removing contamination from chemical, environmental, electrical, biological and electromagnetic sources.

Yoga Sutra, and Sanskrit chanting

“The Yoga Sutra entered my life 39 years ago and since then it’s been a constant companion. It took me a long time to completely understand it but once this had happened it ended all confusion I had about yoga.

Understanding the Sutra gave me complete confidence in how to apply my practices diligently and that I would succeed in due time. The Sutra changed yoga for me from a faith and hope-based system to a science with predictable and repeatable outcomes. It is exactly this confidence and certainty that I would like to pass on to my students. The workshop will be interactive, with ample time for participants to ask questions.”

The Yoga Sutra is the operating manual of yoga. It is only when we understand the why’s and how’s of yoga that we will practice with confidence and beyond doubt. In this class we will chant selected stanzas in Sanskrit and a detailed commentary based on Gregor’s four decades of practice and study will be given. The commentary will retain the depth of the ancient treatises but will be fun, relatable and applicable to modern urban life.

The Art & Science of Adjusting Wisely

As Yoga Teachers we still have the privilege to place our hands on students. Some say that ‘adjustments’ should be left to chiropractors. As a chiropractor I know and value the profound power of touch that we all have access to. I am passionate to teach yoga teachers how to adjust in a way that educates, transforms and heals.

There are many different ways to adjust a yoga posture. There are fewer ways to adjust that are safe, respectful, effective and anatomically sound.

  • Learn what makes an adjustment safe and sound and the ingredients that make up a quality adjustment.
  • Appreciate the differences that effect student’s abilities and limitations and learn how to respectfully accommodate these.
  • Understand the differences between visual, auditory and kinesthetic (touch) cues as a form of somatic communication.
  • Recognise the profound power of touch to educate, transform and heal.
  • Know when it is appropriate to use verbal instruction, the guidance of light touch, hands-on corrections or body-weight adjustments.
  • Learn adjustment principles that can be applied to a variety of postures, whether primary or advanced, from the same āsana groups, eg: back bends, forward bends, twists, etc.
  • Discover which postures are unsafe to adjust and understand why.
  • Learn variations of adjustments to accommodate different body proportions and student abilities.
  • Practice the art and science of adjusting on fellow yogis.
  • Feel confident to guide, assist and enhance your student’s practice with beneficial, quality, safe and effective corrections!

Touch is the only sense we cannot live without! Touch communicates, educates and heals. Learn to use this vital tool with confidence.

In this workshop Monica uses a professional and experienced approach to touch and adjustments. She draws on adjusting principles from her professional education as a Chiropractor combined and over 40 years of personal yoga practice. Her insights as a therapist make this workshop powerfully relevant. Her teaching is guided by her passion to help others.

DIE UNTERKUNFT:

Das Anwesen liegt nahe Ericeira, einem bei Yogis und Surfern beliebten Fischerstädtchen an der portugiesischen Atlantikküste. Das Anwesen besteht aus mehreren Häusern und bietet gemütlich eingerichtete Doppel- und Einzelzimmern: Casa ‘kunterbunt’. Wer morgens nach der Praxis den Yogaraum verlässt, kann es sich direkt im großen Garten, auf der Sonnenterrasse oder an einem der beiden Pools bequem machen. Die Unterkunft ist 2,5 Kilometer vom nächsten Strand entfernt (25 Minuten zu Fuß oder wenige Minuten mit dem Auto).

DIE VERPFLEGUNG:

Wir bieten ein ausgewogenes, vegetarisches Frühstück sowie Abendessen mit veganen Optionen an. Außerdem sind Obst, Saft, Wasser, Tee und wechselnde Naschereien inklusive. Wir fahren regelmäßig zum Supermarkt und kaufen gerne das ein, was Du noch brauchst. Ausgenommen sind lediglich Fleisch und Alkohol.
