THE BASIC STUFF
(German language)

OCTOBER 26 | 11:00-16:00

The Basic Stuff

What we practice in the courses is only part of what Ashtanga Yoga is all about. That’s why I regularly teach The Basic stuff. On the one hand, it is about the origin, the meaning and the practical tools for deepening your practice (Pranayama, Tristana, Vinyasa, etc.), other basics worth knowing and my personal view of the Ashtanga Yoga system: a basic understanding of Ashtanga Yoga.

The prerequisite for participation is only an existing, consolidated and independent mysore practice of at least the fundamental poses.

Participation fee: 85,00€

Introducing Jyotish @AYRF in 2025

JYOTISH – VEDIC ASTROLOGY

  • Introduction Jyotish
  • Jyotish & Everyday Life
  • Jyotish & Ashtanga Yoga

WORKSHOP

Part 1: Introduction Jyotish

  • A brief insight into Jyotish as a Vedic teaching.
  • Jyotish and Ashtanga Yoga both have their origins in the Vedas, which form the basis for the entire philosophical and spiritual tradition of Hinduism.

Regarding Ashtanga Yoga:

  • At what points do these two currents complement each other?
  • What does this mean for our Ashtanga practice?
  • Eight Stages, Chakras & Samadhi.

Part 2: Jyotish & Everyday Life

  • Each day of the week is determined by a planet. Jyotish describes how their characteristics are reflected in the days of the week and therefore offers practical advice for shaping everyday routines, habits and spiritual practice.
  • In order to make daily decisions more consciously, we will learn together about the main characteristics of the planets.

Regarding Ashtanga Yoga:

  • Why is Saturday a day of rest in the Ashtanga tradition?
  • Why is Sunday the first day of Ashtanga week?
  • Why no practice on new and full moons?

Part 3: Jyotish & Ashtanga Yoga

  • OM is the most widespread and perhaps the most well-known sound when it comes to mantras and yoga.
  • Behind this short sound is the entire creation, preservation and destruction of creation (A-U-M).

Regarding Ashtanga Yoga:

  • OM as a practical tool for Ashtanga practice.
  • From OM to inner silence!
  • What is the number “108” all about?

COST

  • 108,00 €
  • Why the number 108? The workshop will also clarify this.

CANCELLATION POLICY

20€ fee for any cancellation request. 100% refund up to September 30th 2025 – minus 20€. No refund after October 1st 2025.

MYSORE CLASSES

  • May 23rd – 29th
  • Team-Teach with Joanne, Darby & Chris.

WORKSHOP

  • May 23rd – 25th
  • Saturday – Monday / Bank holiday

The main emphasis will be concerned with connective tissue, fascia and tensegrity. This knowledge will give a clearer understanding of the anatomical movements of the body, allowing us to remove tensions in the body and allow for greater flexibility, which will open up the channels for the flow of Prana (Chi). From this we can connect breath and movement, (Vinyasa) allowing for a more relaxed and smooth flow to the Yoga practice. Adding Dristhi and understanding its importance in creating smooth movements into the entering and the exiting of Asanas.

The concept of connective tissue and tensegrity seems very simple, but with wrong alignment and with the imbalances of posture, it can become quite complicated. Throughout the workshop much emphasis will be placed on finding and correcting the alignment and posture allowing you to understand, explore and enjoy your practice

This workshop will be a great benefit for everyone who attends:

  • For those new to Yoga and Ashtanga, this information will allow you to continue to explore and grow in your practice with confidence.
  • For those who have been practicing for some time It will be very beneficial, too.
